Pal – imp - sest: a parchment, or the like, from which writing has been partially or completely erased to make room for another text…

…the debut solo project from singer/ songwriter / instrumentalist Tyrone Noonan of No #1 charting, ARIA-award-winning Brisband george…

Palimpsest creates a timeless, yet current sound which takes the listener on an entrancing journey across continents, cultures and songwriting eras, fusing elements of swing, Latin, soul, folk and modern grooves and melodies.

Bringing his soaring and powerful vocals into this arena, Tyrone has been backed by some of the country’s top jazz musicians since the project began in the late 90s, initially inspired by artists such as New York pianist Brad Mehldau… taking popular songs and re-interpreting in a jazz style…

In October 2004, Palimpsest released its first nationally acclaimed self-titled album (thru Shock), debuting in the top 10 of the AIR Indie charts, and conducted a subsequent highly successful national tour including performances on Good Morning Australia and Mornings with Kerri-Anne.

The band can perform as trio or quartet, utilising a core group of musicians including Tyrone (vocals), jazz virtuoso James Sherlock (guitar), Australian Youth Orchestra member Eugene Romaniuk and rising Brisbane star Georgia Weber (double bass), top players Toby Wren and Bruce Woodward (guitar), and John Parker and Joe Marchisella (drums).

Live performances to date include the 2005 Qld Design Awards, 2005 St Kilda Festival, 2005 Education Qld Creative Generation launch (QPAC), 2004/05 and 03/04 Woodford Folk Festivals, Good Morning Australia and Mornings with Kerri-Anne, The Brisbane Powerhouse, Sirromet Winery, The Zoo and The Rev (Bris), The Vanguard and the Brass Monkey (Sydney), Bennett’s Lane and the Corner Hotel (Melbourne), Tilley’s (Canberra).
